Air force officers display ammunition, including grenades and M79 launchers, seized from a motorcycle on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Thursday ordered an investigation into the seizure of a number of M79 launchers and grenades in the Don Muaeng area during the clash between the red-shirts and a police and military force on Wednesday, acting government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said.
The spokesman said Mr Abhisit gave the order during a meeting of the Centre for the Resolution of Emergency Situations, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, the CRES director.
The prime minister asked that security measures be improved to prevent weapons being brought into the rally site of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship at the Ratchaprasong commercial district.
He also wanted authorities to speed up a fact-finding investigation into the clashes on April 10 on Ratchadamnoen Avenue, the M79 attacks on Silom road on the night of April 22, and the clashes between government forces and the red shirts near the National Memorial in Pathum Thani province on April 28.

The prime minister was particularly interested in the seizure of weapons in Don Muang area on Thursday during the stand-off between government forces and the red-shirts, Mr Panithan said.
Police confiscated 63 grenades for M79 launchers, and a number of M79 launchers, from a motorcycle and a car on the in-bound lane of Vibhavadi Rangsit road.
The motorcycle rider fled as he approached an air force checkpoint, leaving behind the weapons. They found an ID card in the name of Pol Sgt-Maj Prinya Maneekhot, of Khu Khot district police station in Pathum Thani.
Pol Lt-Gen Pongsaphat Pongcharoen, the Royal Thai Police spokesman, and Pol Maj-Gen Prawut Thawornsiri, the spokesman of the police operation centre, issued a statement calling on Pol Sgt-Maj Prinya to surrender.
They said the officer was suspected to have been involved in the previous M79 attacks in Bangkok and elsewhere. It was not known if he had anything to do with the red-shirt protesters and he had no record of involvement in arms trading, Pol Lt-Gen Pongsaphat said.
Pol Maj-Gen Piya Uthayo, the Metropolitan Police spokesman, said police on Thursday morning searched the house of Pol Sgt-Maj Prinya and found more weapons, but he released no details.
